OEM ATS-V LF4 turbochargers are MHI TD04LR6A-20T with 47 mm compressor wheel and will support up to 600 whp and 600 wtq when using the industry standard SAE correction factor. Using other correction factors (i.e. STD) will artificially inflate dyno numbers by one to five percent. The CTS V-Sport is the MHI TD04L6. The housings and mounting of this turbo is the same as the MHI TD04LR6A-20T. Both the Tapout/SoCal Stage 1 and Tapout/Pure Stage 2.5 modified turbos will fit the CTS V-Sport and provide a measurable improvement.
Tapout/SoCal Stage 1 Modified OEM Turbochargers
SoCal Porting specializes in turbocharger service, including professional porting and upgrades. The Tapout/SoCal Stage 1 modified ATS-V turbo includes an OEM sized, triple balanced Super 20T eleven blade billet compressor wheel, nine blade turbine wheel, and full turbo port and polishing. We estimate these units should be able to support 625 whp with fuel system modifications, fuel octane and tuning.
Tapout/Pure Stage 2.5 Modified OEM Turbochargers
Pure Turbos is the leader in turbo upgrades for many vehicle platforms and we are proud to work with them to bring a high value modification to the Cadillac ATS-V and CTS V-Sport world. Tapout/Pure Turbos’ Stage 2.5 modified turbos include 49 mm compressor/inducer and 45.6 mm. turbine/exducer wheels. The components are individually balanced, then the center housing rotating assembly is high speed VSR balanced. We have validated these units, on an ATS-V, can support 650 whp and 700 wtq with proper supporting modifications, fuel octane and tuning, and assuming there are no other restrictions in the engine.
During our modified turbocharger testing and validation process we discovered that valve float occurs around 6,000 rpm, capping peak power around the 615 whp mark. For this reason, we strongly recommend stronger valve springs and titanium retainers be installed in conjunction with any modified turbochargers.
