One of the benefits of our Performance Packages is that they each build off one another. So if you start with the Blue Belt Package, and then decide to move up to the Purple Belt, you don’t have to buy an entire new set of parts.

That was just the case with Scott from Missouri. He installed the Blue Belt Package last year and we completed a Remote Tune for him. This year, he was ready to crank things up to Purple so he made the drive to the Tapout Shop. Jorge completed the parts installation and we wrapped things up on the dyno where Scott made 612 whp and 637 wtq! He also let us know about his drive home after he left. “Best part is I drove back to Missouri after they were done with ZERO issues and 24 mpg! Seriously this is where you should go for anything ATS-V related”. We certainly appreciate the kind words and we hope Scott is out tearing up the streets as much as he can!

Camshafts are always an interesting discussion because there are so many ways they can be ground, and likewise, many different results can come from them. One of our Purple Belt Performance Package customers was interested in seeing what a set of the Stage 1 cams, springs, and retainers could do before jumping all the way up to the Brown Belt Package.

As we expected, this cam upgrade resulted in the engine making slightly less horsepower and torque below 4,800 rpm. However, the power gains started at 5,300 rpm, and kept increasing as engine speed rose. If you’re only concerned with peak numbers, you’ll see that the power only increased from 638 whp to 640 whp. Instead, focus on the graph at 6,000 rpm and you’ll see 10 more whp. At 6,500 the gain was 20 whp, and at 7,000 rpm it’s typically 30 whp (although we didn’t spin the engine that high on our baseline pull). These are significant gains that can be felt driving the car and will produce REAL results both on the street and at the track.

You might read into this and think that the car must be slower since it has less bottom end power than before… but wait! Once you consider the fact that the engine speed is nearly always above 5,500 rpm at WOT, you realize that any time you’re at full throttle with these cams, your engine will be producing more power!

Darius from Maryland picked up a totally stock ATS-V and decided he wanted to go full Purple Belt Package plus Caddy Issues Turbos. He and his son made the drive to our shop where ATS-V guru and extraordinaire, Jorge completed all of the installation. After strapping the car to the dyno it made 677 whp and 693 wtq. These numbers are just a touch lower than we usually see with these turbos, most likely due to the fact that he still runs factory cams and valve springs. Even so, these big numbers still give Darius one of the top 25 most powerful ATS-Vs ever!

Our good friend Manny from Pennsylvania recently set the record for the quickest and fastest ATS-V running stock turbos. He was running our Purple Belt Performance Package with Stage 2 cams, which produced peak power of 635 whp and resulted in a quarter mile time of 9.69 @ 139 mph with weight reduction.

Manny was hungry for even more so he had his ATS-V shipped to us to take things to the next level. We installed ARP head studs and the killer Caddy Issues turbochargers, upgrading to our Brown Belt Performance Package, and the car picked up 100 whp! Peak power is now 735 whp and 701 wtq with the turbos turned down some for increased safety and reliability margin. Stay tuned to see what @mannyinthev can do now!
