It’s easy to see why the Kooks header systems are the choice of many hardcore performance enthusiasts. With its high-quality materials, precision fabrication, and excellent fit and finish, it’s a great way to unlock the potential of your ride and a great way to get the best performance out of your car in no time at all. The CT5-V Blackwing header system comes with 1-7/8 or 2″ primaries with 3/8″ thick flanges and hand ported inlets, with stamped collectors and Kooks Patent spikes. Kooks recommends using the 1-7/8” primaries for up to 850 whp applications. Higher revving and other applications above 850 whp should use 2” primaries. Please note that the factory exhaust must be cut to install the Kooks CT5-V Blackwing header system. These systems will then connect to the OEM muffler. You can expect improved exhaust flow, better throttle response, and more horsepower and torque.
Competition only headers will set DTC P0420 and P0430, but this doesn’t cause any drivability or other issues. You can clear the does in a few seconds using DTC Assassin™. With proper tuning, you will retain excellent idle and drivability, maximize your power gains and experience no Check Engine light.
Green Catted downpipes may not set your Check Engine light, although we won’t be able to confirm this until these are installed in the field and cars are starting to rack up the miles. By the way, the Green Catted headers incorporate redesigned substrate that better supports forced induction applications, and they are still rated for up to 850 horsepower!
Emissions rules and testing varies by state and even county, and we are not familiar with all the rules in each geographic location. Some areas just check to see if you have a Check Engine light, and/or plug a scan tool into the diagnostic port to check DTCs and readiness monitors. Others do a visual inspection. And some even go as far as putting a sniffer into one of the tailpipes. You may want to post in some of the various internet groups on Facebook and ask how others handle emissions testing in your area.
