It’s a tight squeeze at the shop this morning as we continue to work through various projects and dyno tunes. The black M6 ATS-V up front just put down an impressive 627 whp with the full Purple Belt Package and man will that thing be a blast to drive!

You’ll also notice the M6 CT5-V Blackwing in the bay that’s currently going under the knife more parts installation, dyno tuning, and validation. We’re currently installing a set of Kooks Green catted headers and a smaller pulley to see what kind of gains we can find. The last time we had it on the dyno it was running completely stock exhaust, Kong ported supercharger, Kong throttle body, and Green high performance air filters and put down an impressive 694 whp. That’s compared to our average baseline 620 whp with no modifications.

We’re looking to see what kind of gains can be made with these headers, as well as a couple of different pully size options so stay tuned for the results!

This year’s Cadillac Attack was another huge success. It’s hard to put into words how cool it is to have so many of your friends together in one place from all over the country to go drag racing. It’s a sport that really brings people together and shows just how much can be accomplished when you set your mind to it.
This was a weekend jam packed with accomplishments and accolades as the Tapout Tuning team brought their A game so the world could see what these LF4s are truly capable of. We are happy to report some of the many great things that happened over the weekend, there are a few we’d like to highlight:

• Heather Swihart won first place in the ATS-V Bracket Class
• Jorge Munoz ran 9.785 @141.36 mph on his first pass at 4,006 pounds, then set the new True Street record of 9.768 @ 137 mph at his 3,971 race weight in +851’ D/A on his second pass
• Bob Cook set the new ATS-V quarter mile record of 8.77 @ 155 mph
• Paul Berger took 2nd place in the manual class amongst all the V8 cars
• Paul Browning took 2nd place in the True Street class by .001 second on stock turbos

We also want to mention Brian Chrestoff, as well as John Sheskey, and Dane Vukasinovic who all set new personal best’s traveling all the way from Illinois and Michigan. And a big shoutout to Chris Tetsos who made the trip all the way from Canada and generously provided his Polaris Pools sponsorship! It was an incredible weekend filled with good times and fast cars. There’s no better way to spend a weekend than racing with the Tapout Tuning family. We can’t wait to see everyone there next year!

Way back in 2008, Bob Cook built and drove the first GM Series II/III 3800 FWD to ever hit an eight second quarter mile, running 8.95 @ 157 mph in his ’99 Grand Prix GT. 15 years later at the 2023 Cadillac Attack, Bob was behind the wheel when his 2016 ATS-V became the first to crack eights. After three days of racing, he was able to lay down times of 8.97, 8.86 and then 8.77 seconds on his final pass. That repeatable consistency is key, and we promise you, we’re far from finished with this car!

The current modifications include the Tapout Tuning Brown Belt Performance Package, with the turbos switched out for aftermarket units. The engine, cylinder heads and intercooler are still stock except for forged pistons and stronger fasteners. It’s even still using the OEM transmission with Circle D torque converter. Basically, this car is running the initial beta tester of our future Black Belt Performance Package. We’re still working to neatly finalize and produce this kit at an affordable price, so it’s not quite ready for sale. All details and pricing will be announced later this year, so stay tuned!

It took our team more than one year to hit 700 whp with the CT4-V Blackwing. The CT5-V Blackwing should easily cross that threshold next month, on pump gas, only two months into the process.

We did four baseline runs over the last 15 days, ranging from 614 to 621 whp on a DynoJet with SAE correction factor and smoothing = 5. We decided to use the median 619 whp pull as our official starting point.

We installed Green performance air filters, Kong Stage X ported supercharger, Nick Williams 103 mm. throttle body and got 673 whp. Next we switched from the 2.50 to 2.30” GripTec supercharger pulley and installed Brisk RR12S spark plugs with .027” gaps and got 694 whp. All runs were done using 93-octane pump gas.
Next month we plan to add Kooks competition headers, a little more boost and also start testing with ethanol fuel blends. We’ll be shooting for 730 to 750 whp.
