I’ve had many heavily modified cars over the years and most of them got some form of tuning, ranging from OTS maps to professional dyno-tuning, however, I’ve always stayed away from e-tunes in the past. I’ve had my ATS-V for about two years and I’ve been researching my tuning options for the last year.

After much research and deliberation, I’ve decided to give Tapout a try. Let me tell you – it’s more than I could have hoped for. This has been the smoothest tuning experience I’ve had to date. I’ve had my ATS-V for a year and a half.  I initially shipped it to a prominent tuner in Ohio, not knowing they were way overpriced, had horrible customer service and the tune was not only poorly done, it was also very dangerous as I came to find out.  Another well-known tuner was my second choice.  I spent the time having them provide progressively improved remote tunes for my car.  Got decent results, but very basic.  At that point Scott Cook who has years of automotive tuning and modification experience and actually holds some records with other platforms, came on to the ATS-V tuning scene.  Now my car is an absolute monster.  I found Scott to be detailed, friendly and he absolutely loves doing this.  He will gladly explain all of the steps he is taking and why (if you want to know all the that), and you can rest assured that your engine is running safely efficiently and at maximum performance potential.

Since I was one of Scott’s initial remote tune customers, I felt the need to write a new testimonial after nearly one year of working with him.  As Scott has pushed the limits of the platform to discover what is possible, his subscription service has allowed me to take advantage of the things he has learned along the way.  I have gotten updates to the calibration without even asking for them at times.  When Scott discovers something new or unlocks a previously hidden table, he automatically updates my calibration and sends it to me.  Even though I have a much more tame setup compared to his development vehicle, the radical things he is doing trickle down to me pretty regularly.

The net/net is that I have a car that is factory level docile in normal driving conditions and completely bonkers at WOT.  I couldn’t imagine a better mix for a daily driver.  Tapout’s services have firmly cemented the idea of driving this car until the wheels fall off.

Got Scott’s help with a Tapout Remote Tune and added the Renick Performance cold air intake this week. Let me say that the car is a monster now. 7,000 rpm rev limiters and lots more turbo noise.  Pulls very hard and annihilates my 285 4S tires out back through the gears.  Excellent customer service from Scott Cook as we went back and forth due to two or three different intake installation issues (shop’s fault).  Must have been 100 messages back and forth.  On the fifth tune iteration currently and very pleased.  Scott customized it to my preference down to the throttle response.

I purchased an ATS-V a few months ago and was exploring options to assist with performance mods and respective tuning. After diligent searching, I consistently was coming across Tapout Tuning as a leader in safe and optimized tuning for the ATS-V. A major bonus is that it happened to be basically in my back yard! As a result, I had the pleasure of meeting with Scott, the owner. Scott was courteous, professional, and I don’t think there is anything he cannot answer when it comes to the ATS-V, tuning or the LF4 engine. Scott/Tapout was able to help me with removing a bad tune and performance mods from the previous owner and get a great tune laid down once some parts were replaced.

The car felt 100x better and was much smoother. They really know how to squeeze as much HP as possible out of a tune and keep the engine safe. The icing on the cake was the customer service. I never asked a silly question (although I did), the response time was impeccable, and there was constant follow-up to ensure that I was satisfied along the way. I couldn’t be happier with my decision!
