Since I was one of Scott’s initial remote tune customers, I felt the need to write a new testimonial after nearly one year of working with him.  As Scott has pushed the limits of the platform to discover what is possible, his subscription service has allowed me to take advantage of the things he has learned along the way.  I have gotten updates to the calibration without even asking for them at times.  When Scott discovers something new or unlocks a previously hidden table, he automatically updates my calibration and sends it to me.  Even though I have a much more tame setup compared to his development vehicle, the radical things he is doing trickle down to me pretty regularly.

The net/net is that I have a car that is factory level docile in normal driving conditions and completely bonkers at WOT.  I couldn’t imagine a better mix for a daily driver.  Tapout’s services have firmly cemented the idea of driving this car until the wheels fall off.

Got Scott’s help with a Tapout Remote Tune and added the Renick Performance cold air intake this week. Let me say that the car is a monster now. 7,000 rpm rev limiters and lots more turbo noise.  Pulls very hard and annihilates my 285 4S tires out back through the gears.  Excellent customer service from Scott Cook as we went back and forth due to two or three different intake installation issues (shop’s fault).  Must have been 100 messages back and forth.  On the fifth tune iteration currently and very pleased.  Scott customized it to my preference down to the throttle response.

I purchased an ATS-V a few months ago and was exploring options to assist with performance mods and respective tuning. After diligent searching, I consistently was coming across Tapout Tuning as a leader in safe and optimized tuning for the ATS-V. A major bonus is that it happened to be basically in my back yard! As a result, I had the pleasure of meeting with Scott, the owner. Scott was courteous, professional, and I don’t think there is anything he cannot answer when it comes to the ATS-V, tuning or the LF4 engine. Scott/Tapout was able to help me with removing a bad tune and performance mods from the previous owner and get a great tune laid down once some parts were replaced.

The car felt 100x better and was much smoother. They really know how to squeeze as much HP as possible out of a tune and keep the engine safe. The icing on the cake was the customer service. I never asked a silly question (although I did), the response time was impeccable, and there was constant follow-up to ensure that I was satisfied along the way. I couldn’t be happier with my decision!

I finally gave in and decided I was going to get my ATS-V tuned. There were a couple well known tuners in town and a couple Remote Tuners I had on the list as options. I’ve been following the forums and Facebook pages for our platform, and only one company really caught my interest – Tapout Tuning. After following Scott’s build and tuning on his own ATS-V and seeing all the continuous positive feedback from his customers along with his dedication to our platform, I decided to go with Tapout Tuning and I’m so happy I did! This car performs like a beast now!

This was my very first experience with a “remote tune” and the process that comes along with it. Luckily I YouTubed some “how to videos” on the HP Tuners MPVI2 so I had a good idea of how it works and what’s involved which helped me alot before working with Scott, so I would recommend this if you haven’t worked with HP Tuners hardware and it’s software: VCM Suite which consists of the Editor and Scanner software.

One thing I really appreciated about my experience was the convenience of working with Scott. He made the process very straightforward and explained everything he did along with the way with the changes and concerns he had. He was never hesitant to allow me to ask any questions I had regarding the tune out of my own curiosity. I liked the fact I could get my car tuned at my own “convenience” and a tune that is custom for my performance mods. There was some days the weather or other things that came up that would prohibit me from doing a scan drive to give back to Scott, but that was just not an issue so the convenience factor is such a plus. I went through about five iterations until we dialed in the perfect tune for me. It was very cool being able to see/feel how each iteration did in the process while doing a scan drive of the car to give back to Scott so he can tweak for the next iteration/tune. FYI: Giving him great feedback notes from each scan allows him to better dial in your tune and maximize your performance and overall driving experience. I was thinking about a tune for my ATS-V and purchased a canned tune from one of the big shops.  This tune had decent power and I thought it was all that was available from a remote tune.  I read about Tapout Tuning on the forums and was impressed at the positive feedback from their customers.  I contacted Scott and he was very helpful in getting me started with the Tapout tune.  There was absolutely no pressure at any time.  He even looked at data scans from my old tune and gave me some advice before I was a customer!

Instead of a “one size fits all” approach, the tune is custom developed for my car and hardware combination, tuned to match my driving style and fine-tuned until all parameters are within Scott’s comfort zone.  He has answered questions almost any time of the day and worked hard to understand what I was looking for from my car.  He responded very quickly and was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure I was happy with the final product.  He seems to be available seven days a week and will respond to data scans with a new tune in the matter of a couple hours.  He was able to zone in on an awesome tune quickly and still went further to make sure everything was exactly correct.  The final product is a tune that has a little more power than my previous tune but more importantly, has a broader power range, is much more responsive and smoother in power delivery.  What I really need now are stickier rear tires.  My only disappointment is that I did not shop here first.
